Formal Dance Attire Reminders and Helps
Ladies: Keep in mind you will be dancing the night away so you will want to wear comfortable shoes and a dress to move in. Modesty is crucial to maximizing your inner and outer beauty. Below are some modesty tips:
Modesty reminders:
- All hems should elegantly fall at or below the knee. Be sure to check the skirt length from all sides, especially while walking or bending over.
- Wear dresses with full upper coverage and straps to prevent top from plunging low while dancing.
- Revealing or drawing attention to the bust line or cleavage is not a good fit for our modesty goals.
- No midriff exposure; tops and bottoms must overlap so midriff skin is not exposed, even when sitting or raising arms.
- Dress slits should be no higher than the knee.
- Feminine and elegant pant outfits are acceptable.
Gentlemen: This is your night to shine; leave the jeans and tennis shoes at home. Below are tips on how to give your formal outfit a unique touch:
Style helps:
- Suit or tux would be appropriate
- Dress shirt with slacks and a bowtie or necktie
- Consider a vest or suspenders with your dress shirt
Note: Students who are not dressed according to these standards will be asked to go home and change. (If you have traveled too far, we have some styling alternatives (i.e. shawls, cardigans, T-shirts, etc) available at the dance. These items may be added to your attire and must be worn throughout the event.
Behavior Expectations for ALL Attendees
All attendees are expected to be respectful of the facility, decorations, adults and other attendees.
If attendees are found outside allowed areas, are disruptive, engage in any bullying or harassing behavior, or are disrespectful of the facility or adults, parents will be called and the attendee will be removed from the dance.
